Brainboxes, the Liverpool based Bluetooth and serial card company, has undergone a reorganisation of its senior management to help drive its product development and to grow the company globally. Stephen Evans has rejoined the company as Managing Director replacing company founder Eamonn Walsh who now becomes the company’s Chairman. At the same time, Walsh also steps into the role of Technical Director, a position which will allow him to pursue a passion for product innovation as well as helping to design Brainboxes’ “next big thing” – an innovation that Walsh sees is set to steer the company towards greater future success.
Evans was Marketing Manager at Brainboxes until 2003 when he left to follow an MBA course at Manchester Business School. Having originally joined the company in 1997, Evans was instrumental in developing Brainboxes’ marketing function. He was responsible for extending the company into new markets in Europe and North America and breaking into the Bluetooth device market. Following the completion of his MBA, Evans was compelled to rejoin Brainboxes because he saw its potential: “Brainboxes has so many great people, products and ideas. What’s more, its culture of ambition means the company can go much further and I relish the challenge to work with Eamonn and the rest of the team to grow Brainboxes and fulfil its potential” commented Evans.
Commenting on his own move, Walsh added that he has long had a “wish list” of products that he felt Brainboxes should develop, and sees potential sales growth by entry into new markets. “Getting the balance of costs versus return of product design and launch is crucial in our industry, ” said Walsh. “I am interested in ensuring we have the right split between software and hardware in our products – if we have the split at the optimal point, we will have the best products at the most compelling price points”.
Commenting on Evans’ appointment, Walsh added: “You put your trust in what you know. Stephen has a proven track record at Brainboxes, a proven integrity and performance, a proven method of dealing with people; that includes our customers, staff and myself! We are all really excited at having Stephen back with us and I am looking forward to working with him and feel confident that with our new structure we have an even stronger team that will drive Brainboxes to greater success”
